  1. Service description

 

        AIM

  • To facilitate provision of affordable housing for low income households on a subsidized basis.

  • To promote housing as an instrument for economic empowerment.

       OBJECTIVES

  • To carry out inspections on site to ensure beneficiaries adhere to approved building plan and to monitor progress.

  • To provide adequate assistance on building related matters.

  • To educate public about SHHA programme through kgotla meetings.

  • To receive new applications and file them accordingly.

  • To help beneficiaries procure the right materials.

  • To collect and submit stop orders print out at the accountant general in order to update ledgers.

 

  1. REQUIREMENTS

  • Certified copy of certificate/common law lease and certificate of customary land grant holders-landboard.

  • Certified copy of omang for plot holder- certified by the issuer- civil and national OR certified copy of omang for surety if any.

  • Copy of Latest/recent payslip for government employees.

  • Verification of employment from for individuals working at private companies eg choppies, spar

  • Verification of self-employment from for self-employed individuals eg street vendors, fashion designers.

 

  1. HOW DO I APPLY FOR THE SERVICE (TURNKEY AND HOME IMPROVEMENT)

  1. TURNKEY

  • The above mentioned requirements apply

  • Loan amount is P90,000.00

  • Plot has to be undeveloped, or a minimum of at least one room structure.

  1. HOME IMPROVEMENT

  • The above mentioned requirements apply

  • Approved plan by the council.

  • Loan amount is P60,000.00

NB: It should be borne in mind that requirements are basically the same as of Turnkey loan scheme EXCEPT that here applicants are required to submit an approved plan by the council.

 

  1. WHERE CAN I GET THE SERVICE?

Applicants are advised to visit any SHHA office at various councils across the country.

For instance if the applicant’s plot is located in Ramotswa, the applicant will have to go to South East District council to tender the application.

 

  1. HOW MANY APPLICANTS HAVE ALREADY BENEFITTED

Tutume Sub District council delivers service to 3 respective constituencies namely; Shashe west, Nata Gweta, and Nkange constituency.

There are 153 projects which were funded by the Ministry for financial year 2015/16. Each constituency was allocated funds for 51 beneficiaries.

 

  1. HOW LONG IS THE WAITING LIST(UPDATE)

Turnkey loan Scheme is as follows;

Nkange constituency- June 2010.

Shashe west constituency -2009.

Nata Gweta constituency-November 2011.

Funds are being disbursed by the Ministry of Lands and housing. Currently the department does not have a budget since the programmes are funded by ML&H
